Dear QM Dental Surgery Serangoon Nex I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction following a recent dental appointment. The experience I went through was highly unprofessional, distressing, and unacceptable — both in terms of clinical care and patient service. From the beginning, the attending doctor focused excessively on discussing payment charges and service costs, rather than addressing my dental concerns. This was both uncomfortable and inappropriate. Matters related to payment should have been handled by the front desk, but unfortunately, the front desk staff were also inattentive and unhelpful. When it came time for my x-ray, I informed the doctor that the process was very painful for me and asked if there was another option. Instead of offering care or understanding, he dismissed my concern with the comment, “99.9% of people can go through this,” and left the room without further explanation. Later, he returned and offered to do a full-mouth x-ray for $120 with a “discount.” I reluctantly agreed. What shocked me next was that during the dental procedure, the doctor injected anaesthetic without telling me anything beforehand. There was no warning, no explanation, and no consent — which I find completely unacceptable and distressing. Following the procedure — a molar tooth extraction — I was still under anaesthetic and visibly swollen. Despite this, the front desk staff began asking me multiple questions and expected immediate responses, even though I was clearly struggling to speak. There was no consideration for my condition, and the lack of basic empathy was alarming. Adding to the issues, I was also overcharged by $297.00 despite informing the clinic a day prior that I was a CHAS card holder. The front desk staff took note of this during my visit, yet they failed to apply it on the day of the appointment. This shows a serious lack of internal communication. Actually I was quite upset with them charging me at $197.00 after Chas because the service they provided didn’t match up to it. During the procedure, another unprofessional moment occurred when the doctor spoke to his assistant in Chinese, and both of them laughed. As someone who does not understand the language, I felt extremely uncomfortable and mocked. Whether or not they were speaking about me, this kind of behavior is highly inappropriate in a professional medical setting and reflects very poorly on the clinic’s standards. After the extraction, I had also requested — in advance — that my entire mouth be rinsed/washed. The front desk took down this request, but the doctor completely ignored it. He simply extracted the tooth, and the assistant asked if I wanted to keep it. After I said yes, the doctor simply replied, “Okay, take care,” and told me not to eat anything hot and left. There was no post-procedure guidance, no instruction on what I could or could not eat, and no follow-up care provided at all. To be honest, I do not know whether the doctor was simply having a bad day or if this is his usual approach. Either way, this level of care is unacceptable. As a patient, I was left feeling disrespected, vulnerable, and ignored. I strongly urge management to investigate this matter seriously. I will also be highlighting the name of this doctor so that other patients can be more cautious and think twice before seeing him. Due to this experience, I will be avoiding this clinic — and any other QM clinics — in the future, as this entire situation has shown a clear lack of responsibility and care from both medical and administrative staff. Thank you for your attention, and I hope to hear back from you with a proper response on how this matter will be addressed. Doctor Name : Dr Zhao Long Sincerely, Shan
