Sushi is not bad, but for the price point against the quality and portion size, I think I'd still choose the other sushi place in the Japanese street.
The rice of the sushi here is pretty good, it's soft and got that nice vinegar taste. The lobster salad gunkan was not bad, but I personally prefer the lobster salad downstairs. The soft shell crab maki was bad though, the crab wasn't fried well and was quite tasteless. Kamo cheese maki was pretty good, I enjoyed the smoked duck instead of the typical ham.
Portions were really kind of small though. The lunch sets offered here are kind of inflexible, they don't allow any changes at all which I found strange as I was requesting to change the sushi to a cheaper option instead. However, the staff kindly explained this to me, so no gripes about the service here!
Overall, I don't think I'll be returning as I much prefer the other option downstairs.

I visited this store at 2.30pm for lunch, seems like your staff Evan and one old man not welcoming. I request to sit at the table near to entrance as I’m not comfortable to sit at the bar cause it’s too squeeze. Why can’t sit during not busy hour ?? If busy hour I can understand. And the old man attitude is damn rude. We spending for comfortable not for your staff attitude

The staff at this outlet is not responsive. No refill of green tea and when food is not serve they dun even bother to check even thought we ask 2 of the staff. Hopefully the management will look into it. Previously the staff here is much better.

Genki used to be a no-fail, especially for party platters. But a recent dinner delivery proved disappointing. Portions have shrunk significantly despite a price hike. The food quality has also dropped. The unagi was bony, the fried ebi tasted of old, refried oil, and the sukiyaki beef was unpleasantly gamey. Both the sushi rice and bento rice were overly sour, and the packaging arrived oddly oily. Even the condiments have become stingy. Sadly, what was once our go-to for reliable sushi may no longer be worth it.

We had an extremely disappointing experience. Despite many empty tables, we were left waiting outside for a long time with no assistance. Several staff members saw us but completely ignored our presence.
When we finally got seated, the service continued to be slow and inattentive. We arrived at 3:20 PM and our initial sushi order only arrived nearly 30 minutes later. Attempts to ask for help were brushed off or ignored, and the staff showed little sense of responsibility.
Overall, it was a frustrating and unpleasant visit. Definitely not coming back.

We have always visited this outlet every weekend but it was the worst encounter today with all their staff members. Absolutely atrocious customer service. At least 4 staff that had the same atrocious attitude, likely new staff as we haven’t really seen them previously. We came at the exact time the app called our number yet they said they called us multiple times with no response. The app just called our number and we just arrived—they did not call us multiple times. When we asked how long we need to wait for our turn, they said we need to wait for another half hour. Obviously this will be the last time we are going to visit. Genki please fix your staff’s attitude. Zero customer service and they didn’t even bother to try to salvage the situation when it’s obviously their fault. They were just trying to give other customers the seats without even following the app bookings. So what’s the point of having an app that can pre book seats? Plus, why put the blame on your app customers when your staff are the one prioritising walk-in customers? Families with kids, please don’t bother coming cos their staff will just give you bad attitude.

First time visiting with my mom, surprising food was good and price are reasonable. The staffs are senior but so friendly, thoughtful — especially Becky at Nex branch she kept checking with us if everything ok do I need anything esle just let them knows. Always happy to be eating at Genki - food is good, affordable, and service is great! There’s always some form of promotion happening with new items to try.
Fresh salmon and maguro cubes mixed with a spicy garlic sauce, topped with avocado cubes. Choose between a base of Japanese rice or a crisp salad paired with ponzu sesame salad dressing.
