Valu$ outlets are known for their wide selection of cheap, parallel imports. Some of the best buys from this shop include:
1) Food: Digestives at $1 (the ones that NTUC and other places sell at $3/$4), canned sardines and tuna, Vietnamese coffee, Rebisco biscuits ($1), Barillio spaghetti and etc.
2) Kitchen ware: Ziplock bags (a bit thin though), air-tight plastic canisters and boxes (from $1 onwards, depending on size), dishwashing liquid ($1 onwards), microfibre clothes, sponges and scourers, disposable containers
3) Laundry ware: Foldable clothes basket ($1.5), clothing hangers
4) Toilet ware: Tissue paper packs/boxes, toilet rolls
5) Personal effects and stationery: Cotton underwear, disposable shavers, notebooks, tape
Do check this place out for a steal on many things sold at higher prices elsewhere.

Recently visited one of the outlet at Chai Chee to buy sanitary pad for my wife, the price indicated on the shelf is $2.05, paid and walk a few steps to the opposite store to buy some tools, to my surprise the shop also sells the same sanitary pad but with much lower price of $1.50. Bought one pack and showed to the Value$ shop male cashier and try to ask him about the difference in prices, he looked at the price tag and say something in chinese which i said i don't understand him and try to ask him again, this time he just shrugged his shoulder and said " i no speak english".
Not sure its true or he just pretending. Anyway I will be more careful the next time and not too trusting when some claim their price are cheaper.

Cramped discount store that has a lot of big brand names at much cheaper prices than the usual local supermarkets. No fresh products obviously but decent choice of groceries, detergents and household items (and lots of chocolates!)
