TORI-Q at NEX Singapore continues a proud 25-year legacy as a homegrown Japanese yakitori specialist, bringing authentic grilled chicken perfection to the heart of Serangoon Central since the brand's inception in 2000. Founded by Japanese entrepreneur Yohei Takeda, who began his Singapore culinary journey with a takoyaki stand at Clark Quay in 1994, TORI-Q has evolved into Singapore's premier yakitori destination with over 20 outlets across the island's busiest and trendiest locations. The NEX location represents the brand's commitment to making quick, affordable, and authentic Japanese yakitori accessible to families and office workers throughout Singapore's largest suburban mall.
The restaurant's signature yakitori experience revolves around their specially formulated 'tare' sauce, perfected after three years of experimentation to suit Singaporean tastes while maintaining authentic Japanese character. Each stick is prepared fresh daily using only the finest ingredients, utilizing TORI-Q's unique auto-grilling machines imported from Japan before being hand-grilled to perfection. Popular offerings include Chicken (.20), Pork with Asparagus (.30), Chicken Skin (.50), Chicken Ball (.60), and Chicken with Green Pepper (.50), alongside crispy Pepper Karaage and comprehensive bento sets that deliver exceptional value without compromising on quality or authenticity.
Strategically located within NEX Mall, TORI-Q provides convenient access to premium Japanese quick-service dining while customers explore the mall's extensive shopping and entertainment options. The restaurant's efficient service model and affordable pricing make it an ideal choice for busy shoppers, families, and workers seeking satisfying Japanese cuisine without the premium restaurant experience. The brand's original yakitori sauce, slightly reduced in saltiness with added sweetness and richer umami flavor compared to traditional Japanese versions, reflects TORI-Q's successful adaptation of authentic Japanese cuisine for Singapore's diverse palate and fast-paced lifestyle.
The rice served today was not Japanese rice but plain white rice instead. The website stated rice provided is Japanese rice but what was given was plain white rice. Kindly take note of the discrepancies.

This stall used to be at NEX shopping mall.
Tried the roasted chicken a few times ever since they moved to this coffee shop, and it was nice. Love the chilli. It enhanced the flavour.
Their nasi lemak breakfast was a disappointment, not for my liking.

Standard food quality. But the staff at this branch got my order wrong and I ended up without the skewers that I wanted. Poor coordination between staff as well. I have eaten at many different branch without issues but this is the only one that can get Set A wrong.

The food was okay, but the service could be improved—particularly with more patience from the staff when taking orders. Also, I found an insect on the table.

Loves the chicken balls and the sauce that come with it. Goes well with the rice.
There is bench seating and limited seats inside this outlet. Long queue during dinner time. Most people settle for takeaways.

Must go Tori Q outlet! I’ve been there several times and the staff are always very generous with their portion of sauces!! I asked more more mayo, they really gave me ALOT! I asked for more sauce on rice, they will ask if this is enough, otherwise they will add more for u! Very good service and I’m more than happier to return for more!

I ordered 4 sticks ala carte with the addition of rice (generous seaweed and pickles). I feel that the chicken taste better than pork, while the fried item (karaage) is abit cold. Overall still a very good bento with their variety and taste

I took 3 stick, shoyu karaage(1.70), chicken ball(1.70) & chicken with green pepper(1.60), total cost $5. All the food are cold. Taste so so. Suggest maybe they can add numbering on the food, make it easier to order. (Eg: order 1,3,8) instead of pointing which one/ took the wrong one/ reconfirming order. I saw a customer point to the pepper chicken but the staff took the one next to it.

Grilling meats on a stick till they are slightly charred to bring out out that smokey flavour while coating them in an umami rich teriyaki sauce is the perfect comfort food when you can't decide what to eat. Let the staff know to spam the sauce, seaweed and pickles on your rice for a sensory overload!
