Bengawan Solo has long been a household name, selling some of the better snacks and kuehs over the past decade. Hence my great surprise when a visit to their NEX branch turned into a masterclass in how NOT to handle customer service. The staff was awkward and outright rude. Simple questions about stock were met with dismissiveness and contempt, as if I was supposed to grab anything else that was in stock when the item that I inquired wasn’t available. It is strange how Bengawan Solo would want to sabotage itself by hiring staff who seem to loathe both their jobs and the customers they serve. A shame really, because the snacks they sell are good, but if only the service didn’t leave such a bitter aftertaste!

11 May 25 (Sun) around 2 plus i went to Bengawan Solo, Nex to purchase a small container of Pineapple Tarts happily. This afternoon, i ate one, the taste is very horrible and the skin too rough and thick. 1st time I bought from Nex outlet. All along I bought from Jurong Point outlet, the taste is very good. My No 1 Pineapple Tarts and I keep sharing with my friends your Pineapple Tarts is delicious. After this horrible experience I will not go to Nex outlet anymore. The staff is not friendly and the place is very cramp. Hope the Management could investigate this matter before it tarnish your reputation and you will lost your "Pineapple Tarts" customers.

If your staff is unhappy don’t work here. What is this bullshit service attending to other customer when I’m trying to order? STILL HAVE THE CHEEK TO ASK ME TO WAIT WHEN I’m in the queue! what’s the point of the queue then? Queue just to let the person behind me go first? Garbage service and attitude, no remorse at all from your staff please do something about it!

Your chocolate/coffee roll was totally difference in thickness on the display shelve and the one I bought.that was a pathetic thin slice of cake.that will be the last time I buy .

12 noon - lunch crowd coming in and you would expect that they would have all the stock ready for their operations. However, kueh section was completely empty. I asked the staff if she could look at my order and let me know how long I would need to wait. She dismissed me and said they are busy packing the stock, need to wait 20 min. After waiting for 20 min, they told me the kueh I was looking for hasn’t arrived. What a huge waste of time that could have been avoided if the staff just LISTEN to the customer instead of dismissing us to do “stock taking” at 12 noon mind you. Btw, 4 staff in one outlet but not one was willing to attend to the customer waiting outside their shop. Ridiculous service.

This is the absolute worst outlet. I ordered a birthday cake for collection from 3pm - 6pm, meaning the cake should have been ready for collection at 3pm, as per every other store that I’ve ever purchased a cake from. Made me come down all the way at 4pm only to let me know with a sassy attitude that my cake isn’t ready. No apology, simply stating that it wasn’t ready and I was to wait for it. Staff opened the fridge door and inside lay many orders for collection period between 6-8pm. Would really like to know why my order isn’t ready for collection during my stated time frame when it’s a much earlier collection timing. I have to attend to other matters and can’t afford to wait. I am absolutely incensed.

What a big let down on the service level at Bengawan Solo Nex. I was there about 4:10 p,m (definitely not the peak period. There were practically no or at most 1 customer) I wanted to buy 2 slices of chocolate roll. Lady said no slice ones but only whole ones. She then asked another colleague if they want to slice for me. The reply was negative. Their excuse is that they cant slice as it's too soft. I am a regular customer of bengawan solo especially Chocolate roll. I never had this issue with other outlets.

Customer service is really poor . I bought 8 egg tarts to be gifted and I asked to be put in a box . Your service staff told me I have to pay $1 for the box. Bengawan Solo such a big brand name and cannot provide a box . Disappointing !!!

Ordered a cartoon birthday cake for my child 2 weeks in advance to pick up today between 1-4pm ( only choice given online for pickup) for a celebration at 3pm. Called shop and was informed that it is only possible to pick up after 4, possibly at 5pm. What is the point of specifying the pickup time online if there is no possibility of that happening? It is a huge disappointment especially when the order is for a character cake for a small child. Now there is the additional stress of going to buy a generic cake in time for the celebration!!! Readers pls beware of the retarded online order system - nice aunty at nex told me next time if we need to order and collect punctually, best to order personally at the shop.

I usually spent $30 on each visit. Today, I bought 1 pc of Getuk Ubi only as other popular products were sold out. Staff showed me attitude, horribly realistic.

We wanted to get a light item for tea break so we got a pandan chiffon cake from the Bengawan solo outlet at Nex. It was a tad pricey at $22 (if I recall correctly), but it was so good when eaten fresh.

Lovely staff - swee Ching was very patient as I tried to make decisions on my child’s one month vouchers. I made an error and required her to do a refund but she was not unhappy and was still very patient in serving me despite the crowd and pressure she was under. Thank you for your kindness and patience!
