If you are looking for food that’s within the range of $2 plus and not very particular, this is the place to come. They have 3 sets and the Set A is only $2.90 and you have a chicken wing, egg and cucumber and not forgetting a good amount of rice. May look simple but it’s actually delicious. As the seating area is limited, you may have to wait or grab one for yourself fast once the other person leaves. All in all, as long can fill your stomach happy already. How often can you come across food that’s below $3 these days in Singapore? Unless food that’s good but little or expensive, could still accept but will not eat too often. Least you tried! Come here when you’re at Nex Serangoon.

Please listen to the feedback you have been receiving. So many of us are upset because we came in thinking the food is affordable. When we get to the counter, the price does not match with the food. Perhaps rental is expensive at Nex, we can understand that. But why do you insist on making us feel cheated?
If you are indeed running an honest business, please display your prices for each dish. We won’t be shocked or think you are cheating our money if we can see it add up. The board above says an egg is 70c. I was charged 1.50.
Makcik, I understand that you know the prices of your dishes well. But there’s no need to make us feel stupid when so many of us are shocked when trying to pay.
We are coming home from work, trying to save money with a simple meal. Please stop ruining so many hard-working people’s dinners and fix this recurring miscommunication.

I bought a packet of beehoon, asked for fried chicken drumstick, cabbage and bittergourd egg. Auntie said chicken drumstick is $4.50, I said sure. It cost $9.50 in total. And this is what I get when I got back, no chicken drumstick at all 😡

Paid $2.9 for the base nasi lemak set with a $2 add-on for the wing bean ikan bilis stir fry.
What's good: The wing bean veggies were tasty. It was stir fried with some fermented paste which made it totally addictive. It single-handedly rescued this dish from being a 2-star affair. The chicken wing was also good. Tasted very Old Chang Kee-ish in its seasoning. I do love OCK's chicken.
What's bad: The nasi lemak itself. The rice was overcooked and had almost zero lemak taste. The 'fried' egg seemed boiled almost. The sambal was unlike any nasi lemak sambal I've had. It had an intensely smokey flavour and heavy tomato notes. I can't decide if I like it or not. I don't hate it, but I prefer the normal nasi lemak sambal which should be sweeter and oilier.
Clearly they have their fans as they have been at Nex for a long time, and I always see people Q-ing.

Bought beehoon + chicken + cabbage for $7.10.
Aunty queued before me bought nasi lemak set + rendang + fried chicken wing for $8.
Not sure how they calculate the price. I asked the Malay aunty again if my food price is correct, and she gave me a look and took back the food (prob she thought I want to cancel it).
Just buy your set meal. Or you will be surprised by the amount they charge :)

Fried rice with beef rendang $7.60. When asked how how much the fried rice, she say $2.50, cos hv fish cake, blablabla. There's none, they dont even know what they selling. With this price, might as well eat at an aunthentic nasi padang in Geylang.

If buy from there, just order the advertised sets.
If u order rice and choose dishes, be prepared to be shocked by the price.
Ordered curry chicken drumlets and cabbage with white rice.
$7.10
Auntie say “rendang” is $5.
Totally lost mood.
Never buying from there again.

A very cheap and affordable price for the food they serve. It is very rarely seen outside due to inflation in the prices. $2.90 for a nasi lemak set, simply worth it, even if the chicken is a little smaller than outside, with no ikan bilis. The staff could be trained more, as they didn't understand my request much tho. The atmosphere is nice, but the slots available to eat in-stall are not large. You have to go outside to eat if u want to eat slowly without a stuffy atmosphere.
All in all, 4/5 stars is worth it.
